What Does Wheels Do?
The Wheels Project helps young people aged 13 - 25 years who have become, or are at risk of becoming, disengaged from learning and society.
The project continues to be successful at supporting young people in their learning of social and work related skills and improving their attendance at school, where appropriate. We also assist young people who have left school with few, if any, qualifications and who have been unable to find employment. Therefore, the project assists young people who may be difficult to reach and may not have succeeded with other agencies.
The Project helps young people with ‘first steps to learning’, to improve their chances of work and the skills to handle life. Our various themed activities engage young people in practical learning in a fun way and in an environment that provides structure and standards.

How Can Wheels Help?
Wheels has two centres of activity: The training centre in Stevenage and a double decker bus which has facilities on board to provide training and generate new interest and referrals. Click HERE for more details on the mobile project.
Underpinning all our activities is the coaching in basic skills and life skills. Progress is well documented in individual learning records.

Training Programmes
Programmes are tailored to suit individual needs and circumstances. Currently programmes are funded through the e2e training programme and agencies working with 14 – 16 year olds.
The attraction of Wheels is that we offer young people fun, new experiences and reward as part of the learning experience.
Reward activities offered may include: camping, mud bug driving, sailing trips, daytrips and sports.
Referrals are welcomed from agencies such as Schools, Colleges, Youth Connexions, Youth Offending Teams, Education Support Centres and Children, Schools and Families Young people who self refer are encouraged to enrol via one of these agencies.

“I would like to thank everyone at Wheels for all the help I received there. I am training to become a Radio Systems Operator in the Army. Without your support I would not be where I am now. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!”
Male aged 17
“The Wheels Project has provided valuable programmes for students who are disaffected, and in some cases been non-attenders at school. The Project has given students opportunities for training in vocational skills and in doing so has raised their self esteem.”
